OK, now can we handle the blowback? Mike Pompeo would not respond to Iraq's request for US troops to leave their country who were placed there four years ago to control the rise of extremeist groups and to fight ISIS.

CW5 Jack Cardwell alright, now the discussion is cooking with oil. The hard questions have to be answered.

Lt Col Charlie Brown yes, so true. But, hopefully, the powers to be considered that we are dealing with a culture of people that will spill blood until the very last drop is drained. Their centuries old Allah, pride, and power trumps everything in the line of fire.

And they deserve everything they have coming to them. The Bush Administration made the mistake of thinking that the Iraqi people would be grateful for our ridding them of a tyrant they were unable to rid themselves of. Instead they turned to looting their national treasures and blamed us for not doing more to stop them! So much for believing that they would be like the Germans and Japanese who immediately set to work rebuilding their war torn country and reinventing themselves as allies and trading partners. Some folks simply aren’t capable of governing themselves... and they are best ruled over by tyrannical Islamofascist regimes — like Iran!

I have a rather pessimistic slant towards this conflict - it was a mess when we got there, and it will be a mess when we leave. I don't think we can fix this. It's like a poker game with crappy cards - and you still keep betting.

Trust Yahoo news to jump on this, and the usual suspects will be celebrating the news (American journalists, terrorists, et al) Inasmuch as this reaction contradicts the popular reaction we've seen of ordinary citizens celebrating the event, I'll just sit back and let the shit-show play itself out. We go, we stay, doesn't mean much to me these days. Too much blood and treasure has been lost in the sands of the Middle East. If Iraqis want to submit to the Iraqi clerics, that's their choice.

Alright, CPT Jack Durish this is what seems to be the other side of the coin.

There's never been a better opportunity for us to pull out. I'm all for a good fight - but this isn't one. Cut our losses - and go.
