Welcome to The “Colonel’s” VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day!

Good “Thursday!” Morning “Band of Brothers & Sisters,” and all great connections. Welcome from the “Colonel’s Foxhole” in The Woodlands, TX — 28 July 2022!

Today’s Message is: “Do Day!” Why Not?

“What do great leaders do? Great leaders provide vision, direction, purpose, inspiration, and guidance for starters. There are so many more things they do, the list is endless. In the end great leaders help others and themselves do the right things when no one is looking. Leadership is about doing what is needed to be successful as a team and organization. That type of leadership is dynamic and exciting! Great leaders are doers and they show others how it’s done. Are you doing what a great leader needs to do?” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Thank you my friend and brother-in-Christ Sgt (Join to see) for posting the Colonel’s” VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day! for Thursday, July 28, 2022.

Topic: Do Day
Do reminds me that doing what is best, better, or okay is better viewed from those who are most impacted.
1. It is wise to count the cost of action and inaction as you make decisions to do the right thing.
2. Doing what is right, noble and true can be costly to reputation, friendship and resources.
3. It takes courage of conviction to consistently do the right thing.
4. Noble leaders demonstrate servant leadership to accomplish missions, tasks and goals while working alongside those they lead with sweat equity - of thought, time, energy and resources.
5. I am reminded that on September 11, 2001 many did the right thing and lost their life doing it. Todd Beamer on Flight 93 [which terrorists had planned to use to flying into the Capital Building or the White House] deliberated with other passengers and said 'Let's Roll.'

Quotes:
1. Todd Beamer 'Let's Roll'
2. Tim Ferris 'Efficiency is doing things right. Effectiveness is doing the right things.'
3. Elbert Hubbard 'Initiative is doing the right things without being told'
4. Zig Ziglar 'With integrity, you have nothing to fear, since you have nothing to hide. With integrity, you will do the right thing, so you will have no guilt.'
5. Martin Luther King Jr. 'The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience but where he stands in times of challenge and controversy.'

Scriptures:
a. Romans 5:6-8 ESV ‘For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.'
b. Psalm 51:10-12 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation.'
c. Proverbs 12:12 ESV 'Whoever is wicked covets the spoil of evildoers, but the root of the righteous bears fruit'
d. Ephesians 5:15-17 ESV 'Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.'
e. Proverbs 16:18-19 ESV 'Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall. It is better to be of a lowly spirit with the poor than to divide the spoil with the proud.'
f. Proverbs 28:6 (ESV) 'Better is a poor man who walks in his integrity than a rich man who is crooked in his ways.'
g. Psalm 18:2-14 ESV ‘The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge, my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised, and I am saved from my enemies. The cords of death encompassed me; the torrents of destruction assailed me; the cords of Sheol entangled me; the snares of death confronted me. In my distress I called upon the LORD; to my God I cried for help. From his temple he heard my voice, and my cry to him reached his ears. Then the earth reeled and rocked; the foundations also of the mountains trembled and quaked, because he was angry. Smoke went up from his nostrils, and devouring fire from his mouth; glowing coals flamed forth from him. He bowed the heavens and came down; thick darkness was under his feet. He rode on a cherub and flew; he came swiftly on the wings of the wind. He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him, thick clouds dark with water. Out of the brightness before him hailstones and coals of fire broke through his clouds. The LORD also thundered in the heavens, and the Most High uttered his voice, hailstones and coals of fire. And he sent out his arrows and scattered them; he flashed forth lightnings and routed them.’
h. 1 Corinthians 8:9-13 ESV But take care that this right of yours does not somehow become a stumbling block to the weak. For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will he not be encouraged, if his conscience is weak, to eat food offered to idols? And so by your knowledge this weak person is destroyed, the brother for whom Christ died. Thus, sinning against your brothers and wounding their conscience when it is weak, you sin against Christ. Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

Good morning Kerry and thanks for the post. I got my PT done; had to laugh on the circuit...cross paths with an Army guy twice (we were working opposite directions) and he asked if I was lost (called me Air Force) or if he was...I said, not me...I checked the route from 30,000 feet...
It's important to do your best. Especially if you are expecting others to either follow you or help you. I tell clients, I can't help you if you won't help yourself. I can find resources, make suggestions, etc., but I cannot do it for you. I am not the one who needs to submit the resume, schedule the interview, go to the appointments, etc. It doesn't work that way. Those who are willing to do get better and have better outcomes than those who won't.

I expect that your principles are is rooted in your personal faith and trust in the LORD and that you dedicated to doing what is right whether or not anybody else is looking. I hope you recognize that you are in Christ and loved by God more than you and I can conceive of or imagine. 'For we know, brothers loved by God, that he has chosen you, because our gospel came to you not only in word, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction. You know what kind of men we proved to be among you for your sake." [1 Thessalonians 1:4-5 ESV] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown .

I pray for an increase of compassion and love for families and friends divided over political viewpoints and policy support differences. LORD, I pray that YOU prompt the mature to take first steps in reconciliation. Guide them to work towards restoration of fellowship. 'What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.' [James 2:14-17 ESV]

Hopefully you and I consistently demonstrate courage of conviction when confronted by individuals who question our principles and faith. I hope and pray that you and I ‘honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame." [1 Peter 3:15b-16 ESV]. Our principles are tested by fire, floods, direct challenges and conscience. I pray that you and I stand firm on rock-solid principles rooted in the Word of God all the rest of our days. Integrity, firmly founded principles, impeccable relationships, blessing widows, widowers, prisoners, and the diseased and injured are examples of what will withstand the testing of fire by the LORD. These can be treasures which endure. ‘Religion that is pure and undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.' [James 1:27 ESV]

I lift each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who are on vacation or planning on vacationing soon, this summer, to YOU dear LORD. I hope that you are calm in unexpected situations and help others to calm down and remain calm in stressful circumstances. Hopefully you are a wonderful travel companion with a good sense of humor and an ability to relax and help others to relax. I pray for safe and secure journeys for each. For those afflicted by injuries and accidents, I pray YOU lead them to trustworthy healthcare facilities. I pray that YOU guide the mind and hands of each person involved in treatment including Christian ministry. Is anyone among you suffering? Let him pray. Is anyone cheerful? Let him sing praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.’ [James 5:13-15:31 ESV].

I pray for courage and trustworthiness for deployed service members, police men and women, investigators, EMT personnel, medical triage and other focused on defending our nation and protecting citizens, visitors, and others as well as their family members to YOU dear LORD. I pray that YOU bless each with endurance in doing good, sufficient strength to perform their duties, and moral courage to stand up for what is right, noble and true. 'Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoiced in hope of the glory of God. Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us. [Romans 5:2-5 ESV]

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Thursday night and each will awake refreshed and healthy on Friday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.
