Hey LT Hrdlicka- my recommendation would be to seek out as much information from current AC officers as you can. There are two primary concentrations AC officers can pursue:51A and 51C. Seek out the 51Cs on your installation to find out what they do and what AC life is like. I'm a 51A and you are more than welcome to PM me to ask questions about the 51A side. Currently, I would advise getting as much as experience on the tactical side as you can. I think you can assess between 6-8 years in the Army and will have to have at least one CPT KD eval IOT submit a VTIP packet. I hope this helps a bit.

Absolutely! Always good to be looking ahead and planning. I would also recommend downloading and reviewing the DA PAM 600-3, there is a lot of good information in there as well.

Ma'am, I am a Logistics Captain with 9 years of service. Post Command. My Major board is in a few months. Assuming I make Major, is it too late to VTIP to FA51? Thank you.

Hey Chad- assuming I've done the math right, you are part of Cohort 2008. I pulled up the VTIP charts for 3rd QTR FY17. For the AC it is yellow, meaning there is a 6-20% transfer ability to the Acquisition Corps. So there is a chance. There are also some green FAs available and green means there is a greater than 20% transfer ability. Those are FA59, FA 52, FA 49, FA34, and FA30. If you want to transfer to any FA, I would recommend preparing your VTIP packet now so you can submit for the next board. I hope this helps and feel free to hit me up if you have other questions.

2LT Hrdlicka,
You will need to get a KD OER as a CPT before you submit a VTIP packet. I finished command a few months ago and am awaiting to attend the AAPC before going on to my first unit. I am going to a 51A slot so send me some questions if you need some advice on the selection process and transition to FA 51 or want to know what the 51A side is like.
