I am an Army National Guard Chaplain and due to a move to another state (and no openings in that state or neighboring) I am looking to transfer to the Reserves. Does anyone have any insight, expertise on this process? I've reached out to recruiters, Army websites, etc and have had no luck finding ANY answer or even response. Thank you!

Speak with a Reserve Career Counselor they will be able to assist in getting you a Chaplian slot and assist with a conditional release. If you are in the California or Neveda area i could assist. If in another let me know and I can see if I have a battle buddy in the you reside.

First, you will have to fight tooth and nail to get the National Guard to release you. Once, they release you, you will be placed in the IRR. Then, the reserves will be able to recruit you.
So the real question is.... how long will it take for the National Guard to release you? because that is the hard part.

This is completely true. Getting your TAG (or someone with their signing authority) to approve your conditional release can be quite a process. And if the state that you are currently serving with in the Guard has a shortage of Chaplains, good luck.
