I reclassed and am set to go to AIT in May. Phase 1 is 3 months in Ft Sam Houston and phase 2 is 9 months in Ft Gordon. I have 6 days from phase 1 finish to my phase 2 report date.

I’m trying to figure out if this will be TDY en-route or TDY and return to clear. Is there any way to request en-route if the prior? It would be far less stress if I’ll be able to clear and just go from there.

Your orders will be to PCS to phase 2 with training at Phase 1 TDY enroute. Don't forget that you also need to attend IBAM prior to the start of your Phase 1 at Ft Sam.
If you have dependents, in your levy briefing you will be able to request to return to clear or move your dependents ahead of you. This is not TDY and Return. This is a VERY important point, because it determines how your travel is prepared and paid for. This will be TDY Enroute with return to home station authorized to clear.

If you have no dependents, it is only TDY enroute and you must clear prior to leaving for school.
Don't forget about IBAM, check your Army email for the ATRRS reservation, and as soon as you get your orders, take them to your unit Travel/DTS section for a manual 1610.
You will need a manual 1610. You absolutely must not use DTS for this travel, because it is not TDY and return.

MAJ Byron Oyler it's Intro to Basic Army Medicine, it's a prep course for certain MOS's. But I had the MOS's mixed up. 68C/LPN don't require it, but 68B/Ortho tech, 68F/PTA and a few others do.

SFC (Join to see) - Thanks, you are always full of good knowledge and I am a few years removed from being involved in IBAM.

MAJ Byron Oyler when they took all the medic ASI jobs and made them their own MOS, the students lost that ground work of having experience as a medic and the EMT certification. So, they needed a prep course to familiarize themselves with Army Medicine since they no longer had to attend 68W AIT first.

I can’t stress how important it is to clear your current duty station before leaving for phase 1.

If I clear my current duty station before going to phase 1, where do I store my things? Do I bring it to phase 1 with me store it in the barracks?

SPC (Join to see) That is between you and transportation to figure out because I don’t want to give you crap info. I do know from conducting multiple inspections that the prior service barracks at For Sam are double occupancy and very small. I suggest putting items not needed in storage if possible.
