Are there issues and/or concerns regarding promotions when it comes to the 68K field?

Got asked by a senior nco if there is any issues regarding promotions int he 68K field. If you can provide possible solutions to the problems I'd appreciate any feedback to this question.

Promotions are slow unless you are extremely motivated. Pt studs and college degrees help a lot. As well as seeking as many award opportunities as possible. Senior ranks are even slower since there is a much smaller number of senior NCO’s needed. I have a been selected for E7 on the 2018 list, and we haven’t even pulled anybody from that list as of yet. So yeah, get ready to wait at some point in promotions.

Time is the enemy for a lot of us. I just saw the new points list and it is 96% maxed out for all medical MOS.

I’d say we are leaning towards being an over strength MOS. The recent percentages are over 100% for each level. I’m still on the fence in regards to staying in the military, but if I do stay and definitely reclassing.

From what I have heard, most non 68W/68C Medical MOSs have rediculous cut off scores or slot requirements, specifically to ensure that MOS does not get significantly overstength. Looks like the cutoff is 651 for the primary zone (798 for secondary) for 68K As of nov 2019, so this definitely hamstrings you.
My recommendation, aside from your IWQ, APFT, and college credit scores, look at distance learning stuff through ATTRS or ALMS, which could help boost your points.
