Why is the army like this? They see people laze around and sham all day but do nothing. God forbid you want to deploy and actually do your MOS for once. Why was I sent to behavioral health for wanting to deploy. That is stupid people make up fake profiles or get pregnant to avoid deployment but hey this specialist wants to deploy he must be crazy?

I'm a 19D Cav Scout. When I was a private, my Platoon Sergeant said, "Anyone who wants to go to war is a fool". 20 years and 6 deployments later, I've lost many brothers. Even one of my buddy's wife was KIA...his wife!! Deploying to war is no joke.
Don't worry about them. Focus on yourself. Set yourself up apart from your peers. Take many schools as you can. That part in your ERB where it says "military education" and "awards and decorations", fill that up!! Earn the next rank! Get Distinguished honor grad. Go to Soldier of the Month and NCO of the Month Boards. Sergeant Audie Murphy boards. Put some bling on your ASU's and make yourself shine! You'll eventually deploy and you're going to see that it was not as what you expected to be. Trust me.

Most of us enlisted knowing that we could go to war and come back broke to hell or come back in a box.
This young man enlisted a long time into this fight. With no disrecpt to you or others that think he do not know what he is thinking, should not try to stop him or scare him.
War never is what people think it is untill it hits you in the face.
I had to tell some people that where so warried about getting killed it was stoping them from doing there jobs.
I gave them the same advice that was given to me by some old school Veitman grunts that I knew groing up. Think that you are dead as some as you get in country, But keep your head or a swivel and keep it down. This worked for me and many otheres.

SGT Charles Bartell - No one is trying to scare him. I was just letting him know that the deployments now, aren't what it was like during OIFs. Even then, it started to dwindle down and it became more of a PCS move. Just like small rotations to places like S. Korea or Poland. They're not deployments more of the PCS for 9 months.

SFC (Join to see) - You know as well as I do that getting picked to go to ranger school as a E-4 out side of Ranger battalion is almost impossible. As well as getting to go S.F. you have a better shot at Winning the Mega A BALL JACKPOT. If some how he would manage to get Ranger school. there is Pre Ranger that he should go to first. Then getting a slot for it. That is if his Unit will pay for him to go.
Say he makes it and gets his tab. In wich would help him in his packit for the Q-course.
Then if he pass's that. He must get a class date, And if he wants to stay Medic that is 18Delta.
I belive that is something like two years long. Not sure.

It would be better if he just put in for P.A. School.
that would be faster than your way of doing it. On top of that he would be a officer.

I have been in his Spot and know mostly how he feels.
He singed the papers to help his fellow soldiers. He should get a little credit for that.
Now if some one wants to go to WAR to kill people then I would say somthing is Seriously wrong with them.

I feel as if there is probably more to the story than what you are telling us.

I was on detail, NCO comes to tell command wants me to go to ER. I go there, psychologist there tells I’m going get admitted whether I want to or not. I stay for 3 days come back get told I have go BH sessions and I’m at risk. Apparently someone thinks I’m dangerous despite shorter than most people in the unit, not own any guns and still live in the barracks. I’m somehow more dangerous than guys who own many freaking guns. That’s army logic.

SPC (Join to see) - what does owning guns have to do with being dangerous? Hoplophobia is a good reason to seen a psych.

Depends on how you worded your statement. Wanting to deploy and do your job isn’t a bad thing, it’s what we all signed up to do. A lot of people say things like “I just wanna go kill some people already” or “I wanna get into the shit” and that’s just silly and immature sounding. I’m not saying you did that! Some people take offense to people wanting to deploy as they themselves have been and likely had rough experiences or lost friends. You wanting to serve and do your job isn’t something to be concerned about in my opinion.

Talking about wanting to kill people is normal in the Infantry. Including for more senior leaders.

Difference between talking about it with buddies in a closed setting than talking about it in an open forum. Ive been combat arms since I joined almost 10 years and of course, everyone wants to do there job.. Walking around talking about wanting to kill people just quite frankly sounds ignorant. Time, place, and audience for talk like that. SPC Elijah J. Henry, MBA

SPC Elijah J. Henry, MBA - At times I think that they belive if you hate them the troops will do more to move up the ranks. The Negative renforcement thing.

SGT Charles Bartell I know what you mean, and I've seen that as official policy. But that's not what I was talking about.
