In regards to being released for recruiting duty. Does anyone have legitimate answers on who trumps who when it comes to USAREC/HRC vs your MOS branch? I’ve heard a lot of opinions but looking for an actual response.

Your Branch MOS at HRC has the final say because of MOS strength, by rank, in and out calls, who’s retiring already, med boards, etc! I just got released by mine but a friend in a different MOS didn’t and it was because his branch said we aren’t releasing him we are too under strength in NCOs!

I don’t know the exact answer but from what I’ve experienced it is your Branch at HRC that releases you. I’m experiencing the same thing right now with trying to get Drill Sergeant duty.

I believe all of us 11C SSGs are in the same boat.

SFC (Join to see) I just got off the phone with HRC this morning. Ultimate answer is that 11C branch owns us and controls the release regardless. However, I also spoke to 11C branch this morning (call the civilian not the SFC) and was told that they in fact DID release me for recruiting duty. I hope you drop your packet and get released. Best of luck.
