Has anyone ever tried getting a DD 368 (conditional release) for someone in the National Guard on AGR orders (title 32)? I know someone that’s considering switching over to Active Duty but am not sure what the odds are of their 368 getting approved. Is there a possibility they could lose their AGR orders if they send the 368 up the chain? Currently trying to help them mesure the risks and whether or not they should wait til their ETS.

Yes I literally just did this. In my case I stayed on AGR until I ship off for my active duty station. So I’m currently still on AGR just on leave until my orders hit for AD. Their unit my ask for a resignation letter depending on his AGR job and how cool there command is.

Wow that’s really good. I hope that’s how things can workout for me. The AD recruiter told me I’d have to reclass so hopefully I can send up the 368 soon too. How long was the process for you from start to getting the ship date?

Yeah, it really is up to the individual state, but in my state, I heard you can just cut AGR orders anytime, and if they give them trouble about trying to get a 368 signed that's on crappy command, I've never seen a National Guard Commander or senior enlisted not want their soldier to follow what would make them successful.

When it comes to the National Guard it's up to the individual State and the chain of command; how they release people in my experience, its pretty hard to get them approved.
