I would say duh but that would be disrespectful. Of course. Anyone who has been around Artillery does.

I only asked because the VA says I couldn't get it from a field artillery base.

I know. Where are you at? Most VAs give you tinnitus rating automatically if you were in the service. You were at rifle ranges, you were subjected to load noises (Artillery, tanks, Aircraft). You were subjected to noises in comms systems. Tinnitus is usually automatic. One thing you can do is go to an outside Hearing dpecialist to verify you have it. But if you were at Ft Sill you experienced loud noises.

The VA doctor they sent me to says I have it but since I was administrative at Fort Sill I couldn't get it and I have never complained of it before. I tried to explain to them that I was told you get used to it. I was 19 years old at the time, I didn't know any better!

That's normal for the VA. You should have asked him if he was ever at Ft Sill. It is a double edged sword. If you went on Sick Call for stuff you got labeled a wimp or malingerer. So a lot dies not end up on your records. Keep pushing the issue. Or appeal it. But talk to the State Service officer first. Sometimes they know how to get things done.

I haven't even been to Fort Sill and I have bad tinnitus. Hearing protection is super important.

If someone is interested in filing a claim for service connection make sure that the individual's daily routine and career job exposed him or her to constant noise. Especially if the noise was a squeal or shriek, they should be tested to check for hearing loss no matter how subtle. To answer your question SPC Diana D. if you don't get affirmative responses, the VA has ways of verifying whether one was exposed to excess noise pollution (during claims process) and also Google questions and see what links populate.
