I'm in the process of joining the Ohio army guard. I've always wanted to learn some welding skills to augment my civilian career. According to my recruiter, very very few 91Es are every needed in Ohio.
Are there any other MOSs that learn any basic welding skills? Mechanics, repairers or construction?

88L2O Course (Army Watercraft Engineer) spends an entire month on Oxy-Acetylene, ARC, and Aluminum welding/cutting. Of course there is also a month of Electrical, Air Conditioning & Refrigeration, and other nautical subjects as well.

Any mechanic, HVAC should know how to weld or be able to learn. There is arc, tig, mig just to name a few. Learning is easy, getting good is the hard part. Pratice, pratice and more pratice. You can buy a cheap welder and learn on your own. Just get some scrap metal and stay. YouTube is a good place to start watching to learn how too.
