How many of you officers actually got the branch That you chose? I'm currently QM so I'd like to be a QM officer...

It really does depend on your commissioning source. If you're commissioning through ROTC and want QM, there's a high likelihood that you'll get it. It's all about maintaining a good GPA and APFT score along with doing well on the OML.
The quality of each program really does influence which Cadets get their top choice. I was fortunate to be part of a challenging ROTC; nearly everyone who wanted active duty got it with their top choice. Other LTs I've met... not so much.
Regardless, QM is a branch that is high in demand from the Army, but not a lot of Cadets want it. If you put it down as your top choice and have a solid placement on the OML, you'll probably get it.

One other note, if this is still the case. Find out which branches force branch new officers. Back in my day that was CM. If you put one of those branches down as one of your choices, that's what you will get. It improves your chances of getting RA or Active Duty, but that's what you will get.

The LT here hit it on the head. I will only add that you may want to seek the assistance of the HR tech in the ROTC department for additional assistance when it is time to select a branch. They are usually very knowledgeable and well-connected, and they can assist with drafting the justification for your selection in your desired branch.

You shouldn't have a problem getting QM. Usually the competitive branches that most people go after are infantry, armor, aviation and engineer.

A former MS4, very high GPA majoring in cyber security with a lot of research projects related to his major and apparently high oml ended up on his 3rd choice, signal AND branch detail infantry.

I feel as I'm better qualified to be a QM officer as I've already invested 7 years of my enlisted time being productive in the QM community. But no sense walking around with my heads in the clouds thinking in going to get what I want because I'm qualified. The military can be quite harsh haha. Thanks for your input.

Unfortunately, accessions could care less about what you did enlisted. I for one was a chemical specialist, now I'm a QM officer. I knew quite a few 11Bs who were frustrated in not getting to branch INF.

Cadet PFC Samuel Green said it better! It is all about the needs of the Army. However, I think you have a good chance at getting QM, because it is one of those fields that the Army is in constant need. If you are on active duty, I would suggest you get letter of recommendations from your chain of command. It may help! Usually you pick three choices, and you get what they need. I wanted MI and ended up in the FA. I switched branches to QM got bored, then switch back to FA. Good luck!
