I saw a tip on the news once that you leave enough room between you and the car in front of you, so you have an escape route. I practice that tip. I feel,more comfortable than being jammed up bumper to bumper. If I'm parked, I'm usually not in my truck, and I look both ways before approaching my truck. I also have my weapon with me, which gives me a better chance of getting out of trouble. If someone isn't smart enough to protect themself out and about, they have a serious problem if they are ever accosted.
