Welcome to The “Colonel’s” VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day!

Good “Tuesday!” Morning “Band of Brothers & Sisters,” and all great connections. Welcome from the “Colonel’s Foxhole” in The Woodlands, TX — 13 September 2022!

Today’s Message is: “Smile Day!” Why Not?

“Leaders have an uncanny way of smiling when faced with adversity. It’s there, you just can’t see it on the outside! Effective leaders confront the problem. They don’t avoid it. They look at problems and challenges with that inward smile and a positive attitude. That is when they evolve as a true leader and find the solutions. It’s the courage and strength in their face that is committed to action. The eagle leader with its eyes is a picture of strength and courage – it says, ‘I am Smiling!’ We call that their game face!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Good morning Kerry. I am here smiling at you!
I am a mind-body instructor so I know how much interplay there is between what we do and how we feel. If you start off the day on a positive note, your body responds accordingly and then so does your mind. They are mutually reinforcing. So if you make sure you have a smile then you will feel better even if you are struggling with stress, disappointment or depression. It's the science behind "fake it until you make it". If you act "as if" you will convince yourself that things are better than they first seemed. And that doesn't cost you anyway and may help you and those around you.

I expect you understand that a genuine smile is always appropriate for leaders, subordinates, parents and children. No doubt your humility is genuine and your smile is always spontaneous, since you have self-confidence and have no need or desire to demean others. I hope your demonstration of love and selflessness to each one you interact with dispels all doubt that you are worthy of imitating. 'Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality.’ [Romans 12:9-13] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown .

I pray for sufficient discernment, ability to encourage, and the ability to listen well for each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads this prayer or hears it dear LORD. I pray that you and I do our best to encourage others in need of encouragement, provide a shoulder to lean on, and/or spend time with those in need of human contact. I hope and pray that the joy of the Lord shines through each of us and that our smile draws joy out from each one the LORD knows needs peace and joy. 'But since we belong to the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helmet the hope of salvation. For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.' [1 Thessalonians 5:8-11 ESV]

I pray that YOU cleanse each of YOU adopted sons and daughters of any impurity which inhibits YOUR love from flowing through us. Let YOUR light shine through each of when we enter a room, home, mode of common transportation, or place of business. Empower each of us to bring calm and peace into areas of turmoil. Enable our smile to be contagious. ‘Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.’ [Psalm 51:10-12 ESV]

I lift the severely disabled, the individuals with no living relatives, and others who feel terribly alone to YOU. I pray that YOU provide comfort to each and a large measure of hope. I pray that YOU motivate people with great listening skills to come along side those in desperate need of human company. So, if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind. Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. [Philippians 2:1-4 ESV]

I pray for genuine increase of moral courage, honesty, and desire for fairness for each trustworthy legislator, judge, justice, government executive, appointed official, and leader. I pray that YOU bless each with wisdom, great listening skills, and favor in negotiations. ‘Know this, my beloved brothers: let every person be quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger; for the anger of man does not produce the righteousness of God. [James 1:19-20 ESV]

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Tuesday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Wednesday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Thank you my friend and brother-in-Christ Sgt (Join to see) for posting our friend, brother-in-arms, former RallyPoint member emeritus, and brother-in-Christ Colonel Mikel Burroughs VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day! for Tuesday, September 13, 2022.

Topic: Smile Day.
I tend to smile easily these days, in all kinds of circumstances. I have learned to be thankful during good, bad and ugly situations.
1. Today is the 33rd anniversary of the birth of my first natural son who I helped deliver at home in Columbus, Georgia on September 13, 1988 while I was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia.
2. When I was a teenager, I did not smile much except nervously - especially in the presence of girls. I had severe acne which was treated with UV radiation and tetracycline for about a year. The treatment changed my crusty face into a relatively smooth face. I expect being his with an ugly stick helped to make me shy :-)
3. In any event over time I learned to accept myself as I am. I don't remember if this is before my personal salvation or not. Praise the LORD for accepting us as we are throughout our lifetime.
4. By God's grace I have become more compassionate through my trials and tribulations. I tend to smile more than frown and hope to die with smile lines on my face [naturally not via mortician efforts :-)
5. The LORD has blessed me with joy and peace in the midst of grieving to demonstrate my faith in the LORD in action. This blessing made unbelievers curious about calmness and ability to smile while I grieved the death of parents and other griefs. I was able to share my faith with Muslims, atheist's, Jews and others.

Quotes
1. Denis Waitley 'A smile is the light in your window that tells others that there is a caring, sharing person inside.'
2. William Shakespeare “The robbed that smiles, steals something from the thief.”
3. Kenneth Branagh “Lighten up, just enjoy life, smile more, laugh more, and don’t get so worked up about things.”
4. Zig Ziglar 'Be helpful. When you see a person without a smile, give them yours.'

Scriptures
a. James 1:2-4 ESV ‘Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.’
b. Galatians 5:22-24 ESV 'But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law
c. Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life, in Your presence is fullness of joy.
d. Psalm 30-5 'For his anger is but for a moment, and his favor is for a lifetime. Weeping may tarry for the night, but joy comes in the morning.
e. Matthew 13:16-17 ESV 'But blessed are your eyes, because they see; and your ears, because they hear. 'For truly, I say to you, many prophets and righteous people longed to see what you see, and did not see it, and to hear what you hear, and did not hear it.'
f. Proverbs 20:7 (ESV) 'The righteous who walks in his integrity—blessed are his children after him!''
g. Psalm 51:10-12 ESV ‘Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not away from your presence, and take not your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit.’
h. Ecclesiastes 3:1-8 ESV 'For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted; a time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up; a time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance; a time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing; a time to seek, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away; a time to tear, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak; a time to love, and a time to hate; a time for war, and a time for peace.’
i. Psalm 39:12-13 'Hear my prayer, O Lord, and give ear to my cry; hold not your peace at my tears! For I am a sojourner with you, a guest, like all my fathers. Look away from me, that I may smile again before I depart and am no more!'
