Happy Birthday to the United States Navy Corpsman!
Congress passed a bill authorizing establishment of the U.S. Navy Hospital Corps, signed into law by President William McKinley on 17 June 1898. Three rates were created therein—hospital apprentice, hospital apprentice first class (a petty officer third class), and hospital steward, which was a chief petty officer.
They fight in every climb and place along side Marines. They take care of the wounded, become counselors, saviors, and the ones Marines look to in many different ways. Called "Doc" by Marines, these men and women would put themselves in harm's way to save a patient. May they continue having fair winds and following seas!
