I too served in Nam, with a Marine platoon, outside of Da Nang. Saw the best and worst in men and can only pray our servicemembers of today show best in class, at all times. However, I also know that war does not let us always pick our emotions and actions following every situation we get thrown into, it does offer us the opportunity to do the right things, just like normal life....God Bless and good luck.

Combat stress, fatigue, fear, and seeing the brutality of war take a toll on everyone. Being able to compartmentalize and just do your job is a talent that not everyone can handle. Part of our job as corpsmen was to help our troops stay mentally able to perform as well as physically. not an easy task. Sometimes just a quick few words of support could work wonders....
