The only time I saw a chaplain while in Security Forces was when something bad happened in the unit (i.e. a death). They came out said some words and that was it.

A lot of it depends on the chaplain. I've found that Army chaplains are more apt to go to where the troops are than in the Air Force, and when I was stationed on a Naval Air Station, did not see the chaplain at all. Second, I've found that the more liturgical the faith of the chaplain, the more they were willing to step forward and help a service member find spiritual guidance or assistance; while the more fundamentalist chaplains were more interested in pushing their faith on the service member.
