Thank you my friend SFC William Farrell for posting a sign of an end of an era. Those of us who are history appreciators will remember. I hope that many will remember the sacrifices the greatest generation made to keep us free from barbarism from external sources.

Hopefully the Navy-Marine Corps Relief will use the final $1,400 donated by the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association wisely.

The San Diego chapter of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association, which at its peak was believed to be the largest chapter in the nation, can’t continue because it needs at least two survivors to serve on the board.

"On Wednesday, it donated $1,400 that remained in its accounts to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society during a small ceremony at Little Creek.
At its height in the 1970s and ‘80s, the Tidewater chapter of the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association boasted several hundred members — sailors who’d survived the infamous 1941 attack and lived to tell the tale.
They gathered often share lunch at the club or picnic, and for more somber occasions like an annual Dec. 7 memorial ceremony at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek. Members watched each other “get married, buried and have grandkids,” said Gerry Chebetar, whose father Frank served as the chapter’s longtime president."
But membership dwindled as folks aged and passed away. Several years ago, with just a handful of members left, the chapter gave up its nonprofit status. By late 2019, the group had lost its last survivor, 97-year-old Paul Moore.
Suddenly the Pearl Harbor Survivors Association found itself an organization in want of survivors. And with the coronavirus pandemic prohibiting the venerated annual ceremony, the decision was made recently to officially disband."

Now it seems our gravest threat near-term is from radicals including some who were elected .

LTC Stephen F., not to take away any of the valor of our brave soldiers, sailors, marines and airmen but I remember reading a long time ago that the Congressional Medal of Honor Society was to disband when the last recipient died which for all intensive purposes would have been the Vietnam War recipient. Next thing you know is they are coming up with more and more brave men who are deserving of the honor. I almost felt like it was too coincidental.

End of an era is correct and it was inevitable, SFC William Farrell, but nonetheless, it’s profoundly sad.
