Welcome to The “Colonel’s” VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day!

“Let us remember all those heroes that perished this day on 11 September 2001 and the many heroes that have given their lives in the aftermath through service to this country. Remembered and Never forgotten!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Good “Sunday!” Morning “Band of Brothers & Sisters,” and all great connections. Welcome from the “Colonel’s Foxhole” in The Woodlands, TX — 11 September 2022!

Today’s Message is: “Heroes Day!” Why Not?

“Leaders can be heroes and heroes can be leaders. Leaders motivate and inspire commitment from their followers and others to get things done and accomplish the mission. Heroes are individuals that have performed heroic acts above and beyond the call of duty, with personal risk to help others. True leaders always put others first and true heroes do something courageous for others without being asked. Heroes and heroic leaders that perform selfless acts of courage and focus on the needs of others do it without the expectation of anything in return! It wasn't their goal in life to become heroes!” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Good afternoon Kerry. 9/11 gave us more heroes than we can count...
So often we see that those who are heroes are ordinary people who in circumstances where others stand and watch (or stand and film) take action. The heroes of Flight 93, who knew they couldn't save themselves still chose to act and save others. I will never forget that.
And there are daily heroes who step in and save people from drowning at the risk of their own lives, firefighters, police and just average people who not seeing anyone else, step up. Thank you all.

I expect that you consistently stand firm on bedrock principles which at times are tested by direct challenges; you have stood up at times for family members and friends; and those who rely on you for leadership are inspired by your stands. I hope your firm foundation in character and your courage of convictions has increased along with the respect of others. I hope that our personal integrity is impeccable and that we demonstrate love with grace as we stand firmly. I pray that you and I stand firm on rock-solid principles rooted in the Word of God all the rest of our days. ‘Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ, from whom the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love. [Ephesians 4:15-16 ESV] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown

I pray for contentment in the situations and circumstances for each of YOUR adopted sons and daughters who reads this prayer or listens to it. I pray for sufficient compassion, and selflessness, and trustworthiness for each of us in these challenging times of grocery and retail price increases based on the fuel and transportation cost increases. Motivate us to treat others as we would like to be treated and not to hoard for profit. ‘But godliness with contentment is great gain, for we brought nothing into the world, and we cannot take anything out of the world. But if we have food and clothing, with these we will be content. … For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evils. It is through this craving that some have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many pangs.’ [1 Timothy 6:6-8,10 ESV]

YOU admonish us to be trustworthy, honest in transactions, truthful in speech and communication, and to treat each person with respect. YOU always fulfil YOUR promises as YOU fulfil YOUR Word to each and every generation of humanity. Our children are entrusted to us to raise up in the admonition of the LORD. ‘Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” (this is the first commandment with a promise), “that it may go well with you and that you may live long in the land.” Fathers, do not provoke your children to anger, but bring them up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord. ' [Ephesians 6:1- ESV]

On this anniversary of the deplorable al-Qaeda suicide attack on civilians primarily on 9-11-2001, I pray that YOU protect the deployed service members and the civilians at US embassies, traveling and vacationing US citizens overseas, and other vulnerable individuals from terror attacks. As Babylon was destroyed, I pray that al Qaeda, ISIL and their nefarious allies will be destroyed as terrorist organizations. I pray that YOU cause as many to repent and turn to YOU as you are willing because YOU elected them before time began. ‘For thus the Lord said to me: “Go, set a watchman; let him announce what he sees. When he sees riders, horsemen in pairs, riders on donkeys, riders on camels, let him listen diligently, very diligently.” Then he who saw cried out: “Upon a watchtower I stand, O Lord, continually by day, and at my post I am stationed whole nights. And behold, here come riders, horsemen in pairs!” And he answered, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon; and all the carved images of her gods he has shattered to the ground.” [Isaiah 21:6-9 ESV]

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Sunday night and will awake refreshed and healthy on Monday morning.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

Thank you my friend and brother-in-Christ Sgt (Join to see) for posting our friend, brother-in-arms, former RallyPoint member and brother-in-Christ Colonel Mikel Burrough's VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day! for Sunday, September 11, 2022

Topic: Heroes Day
True heroes demonstrate courage when terrified. They risk life, health, reputation, hopes and dreams to bring the fight to the enemy; protect those they serve with or are responsible for; and stand up for the abused, the downtrodden and the helpless.
1. At times I have risked my life for the soldiers I led; I risked my health to extract friends from vehicular wrecks; I have stood up for NCOs and soldiers who were unjustly charged and investigated; I have shared my faith in God with atheists, Muslims, Buddhists, and pagans.
2. Doing what is right, noble and true can be costly to reputation, friendship and resources.
3. It takes courage of conviction to consistently do the right thing.

Quotes
1. Elizabeth Lukas 'The true heroes of life are not the triumphant victors, but the defeated who find a ray of hope.'
2. George Foreman 'Heroes have a rough time because they stand up when they ought not to, they speak when they ought not to; they always have to go that extra mile.'
3. Robert Dale Owen 'Wisdom, prudence, forethought, these are essential. But the second to these that noble courage which adventures the right, and leaves consequences to God
4. Thomas Carlyle 'The Courage we desire and prize is not the courage to die decently ... but to live manfully.'
5. Theodore Roosevelt 'Courage is not having the strength to go on; it is going on when you don't have the strength.'
6. Ambrose Redmoon 'Courage is not the absence of fear, but rather the judgment that something else is more important than fear.'

Scriptures:
a. 2 Corinthians 5:6-8 ESV 'So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage'
b. Joshua 1:9 'Have I not commanded you. Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.'
c. John 15:13 ESV 'Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.'
d. 1 Corinthians 16:13-14 ESV 'Be watchful, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. Let all that you do be done in love.'
e. Hebrews 3:1b-6 ESV 'consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession, who was faithful to him who appointed him, just as Moses also was faithful in all God’s house. For Jesus has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses—as much more glory as the builder of a house has more honor than the house itself. (For every house is built by someone, but the builder of all things is God.) Now Moses was faithful in all God’s house as a servant, to testify to the things that were to be spoken later, but Christ is faithful over God’s house as a son. And we are his house, if indeed we hold fast our confidence and our boasting in our hope.
f. Philippians 1:19-21 ESV for I know that through your prayers and the help of the Spirit of Jesus Christ this will turn out for my deliverance, as it is my eager expectation and hope that I will not be at all ashamed, but that with full courage now as always Christ will be honored in my body, whether by life or by death. For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.'

Scripture: Proverbs 9:10-11 ESV '‘The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is insight. For by me your days will be multiplied, and years will be added to your life. If you become wise, you will benefit. If you scorn wisdom, you will be the one to suffer.
