What's the most current info on riding a bike for the ACFT as an alternate? Is that even a thing? If it is, what's the standards?

last I saw the bike was an alternate event. 12,000 meters in 25 minutes to pass. If my math is correct, you have to ride ~ 7.5 miles at an average speed of ~18 mph to pass. Funny how they are not allowing the 2.5 mile walk as an alternate given that the vast majority of no-run profiles do the walk as an alternate on the current APFT. Seems to me like they're looking for an excuse to get rid of people with a no run profile.

Fortunately for me, my current score is valid until march of 2022 and I'm retiring October or 2022. The ACFT can kiss my shiny ass. I'll just fail it in April/May 2022 and retire with a flag on my record and laugh all the way to the bank. 36 years and I've never failed a PT test. I figure they owe me one. lol

LTC (Join to see) - It depends on what the goal of the test is. The run is designed to measure your cardiovascular endurance (it even says it in the reading before the APFT is administered). The walk, does not match that level of cardiovascular endurance.

If we were going to test for something to simulate the actual job, sprints in a full kit would be appropriate. But the damage caused to a body from training for that would not out weight the reward.

SSG (Join to see) - depends on how you define "cardiovascular endurance".

I did 9 miles is 33 today but had no problem won’t the 6.2. This seems like a smack down, especially to the older soldiers

Thanks everyone! My main concern was that my output was only about half of what I thought was required for the stationary bike event. You've proven to me that my bike needs calibrated.

SSG Carlos Madden no, I think it's an Inspire? Got it from Costco, solid bike and it uses an app and bluetooth connection to track stuff.
