I thought they "formally" started reevaluating the ABCP several years ago...I don't remember which SMA but I thought one of them said they were looking into it even before ACFT.

Either way, it needs to be looked at and needs changed, especially if the ACFT is what the Army wants. It does hurt women more. I saw a post about this female soldier - she was nothing but pure muscle in ever picture. Her FB profile she looked like she lived at the gym. She failed weight - gets taped. She failed tape solely because she has big hips. So now she's flagged as "overweight" when she's pure muscle.

I saw somewhere else a female who worked her way to what was the "medium" standard used to be by MOS. Of course she gained weight - she built up muscle.

The tape standard has always been bs for women. Always. Guys too but my experience is as from the female perspective. I was good on weight - until I gave birth. Now my body doesn't seem to know what the hell it wants to do.

The tape is bullshit for men too. I was taped my entire career to include MEPS (1991 - 2017). Though I always did pass it was alway within 1% of being over weight even when I was in SF. Glad to see it finally be done away with

MSG Bob S - I did say "for guys too" but my experience is from a woman's POV.

I hear you on the magical changes in height too. I remember I got taped one time and they measure me a whole 2 inches shorter. When the guy did the tape test it was way off. I politely asked him to get a second person to repeat the taping and measurements. Amazingly I grew 2 inches and my neck gained an inch and my waist dropped over an inch. That is how subjective the tape test is. SFC (Join to see)

If this is going to be like the ACFT implementation then soldiers are going to be in a world of hurt. I have taped thousands of soldiers of over the years and 99% of the ones who fail are fat. Nothing is perfect and when the Army does it you know there will be issues. If they were to make a new height/weight program as complex as the ACFT you will probably see 75% of the Army fail right away.

Completely get rid of it and rely on the PT test. Seriously, what is the point in taping a Soldier that is doing well on the APFT or ACFT? We are told that this new ACFT will be a better indicator of how fit someone is for combat, okay, if they are passing then what does BMI matter??
