My wife commandeered all of my grey pt shirts for use as sleep shirts when I left the Army the first time around so I had to buy the new black ones when I came back in. For the most part they seem okay. The old winter PT uniform did seem to be a bit warmer, which isn't really necessary here in Texas. They actually remind me of the black and gold PT uniform they gave us in recruiting school many years ago. At there very least I'm hoping they stick around for a bit. This will be the 3rd version of the PT uniform I've worn since originally joining in 99.

I guess I'm dating myself quite a bit by my remembrances of doing the" Daily Dozen " in the uniform of the day, fatigues ,black combat boots pistol belt with canteen and first aid pack( removed with a two count movement before the instructor on his wooden platform started his cadence and our calling out the reps) God,am I old!

I like the new black and gold PTs alot more. They fit nicer, the material breathes better, and the shorts have a nice built-in spandex liner. Big improvement.

They're the black and golds that most people have been wearing for awhile now. I think this article is coming out now because the wear out date for the old uniform is 1 Oct.
