Your promotion points would be linked to the award. A certificate of achievement has a point value attached to it, as does an AAM or ARCOM.

Yes CSM, I understand that, as I am getting an ARCOM on the 30th and understand that I will be receiving 20 points for it, but if you look in the OLD AR 600-8-19 under achievements in par 3-43 section C it states that any winner of soldier/NCO of the Quarter will receive an additional 10 points for Brigade, 15 for division, and so on. It was just like getting DHG or commandants list at BLC or ALC. Had to get a 1059 and give it to S1. But I can’t seem to find it in the newest AR since it was updated in 2011 I believe. Just wanted clarification on whether it wasn’t a thing anymore or maybe it’s in a different part and I haven’t been able to find it. Thank you for your answer though CSM and I apologize for the lengthy response !

PFC (Join to see) - Roger, looking at the updated 600-8-19 Dtd 25 April 2017, there are no separate points listed for the board competitions.
Extra points are still available for the DHG and Commandants list achievements. I was not able to locate any updates that were more recent than the Apr 2017 version. Congratulations on a job well done.

Ahhh, that’s what I was afraid of. I also reviewed the entire reg just today and could not find it. Unfortunately I guess I will just have to miss out on the points. I just wanted to exercise due diligence and reach out to the community to see if anyone else had done this recently. Thank you CSM for your congratulations and efforts in attempting to locate the reg.

You're not going to find it because it doesn't work that way. Your promotion points are comprised of different categories. One category is the awards section. If you are given an award, for something like division level SoQ, then it may count towards your points. I once was awarded a CoA just for participating in the garrison SoQ (didn't even come close to winning) which was 5 points towards my total. If your unit awards you a CoA or higher, then you can take that to your S1 and get it added towards your promotion points for your E5. However, if you are still an E2, your next 2 ranks are automatic so make sure you digitize and save all your awards. If you're not familiar with having an "I love me" book, now would be a good time to start assembling one that encompasses your awards, orders, certifications, transcripts, your contract, any transfer orders, promotion/reduction orders.

Roger SSG, I guess the way I worded my question is misleading. If you look in my reply to the CSM above I go a little more in depth. It was in the regs under “achievements” no different than BLC or ALC’s DHG achievements or commandants list. But since the reg has been revised in ... 11’ I think, I am not able to find mentioning of whether or not it is still an awardable achievment, or if they consider the awards such as AAM’s and ARCOM’s enough now. Thank you for your reply though SSG.

PFC (Join to see) - Yes, the system has changed since that publication date. The new one can always be found with an easy Google search, or go straight to the Army publications directorate site. I link a copy now.

Those points are no longer existent based on the current promotion system. You will only receive points for any awards you receive such as an AAM or ARCOM.
If you're curious as to how many points you have currently, a site you can use is:

Roger SSG. I am familiar with the PPW. I try and check my 3355 every time I get an award or corresponded just to make sure it goes through. Yes I checked the updated version again today to find that it wasn’t available. Thank you for checking on this for me though SSG

When I was going up the ranks it boiled down to how the award was made. If they commended you with a letter or appreciation or locally produced certificate of achievement it was worth 5 points. Check the regs and ask your 1SG how the accolade is made.l That will tell you if there are any points accruing.
