Sad, how long it takes to get something done. We are losing lives in the meantime. And this is definitely something that could and should have been done pretty much off the shelf.

It should be a relatively simple process. There are aircraft already flying, doing the mission. Take 3-5, do some testing to figure out which one comes closest to meeting our needs, then buy them. It should not take years, don't confuse missions, don't add on nice to have during the testing. Take the one that most closely meets the mission. This isn't rocket science.

The same was and is true of the A-10, of course, unsophisticated by modern standards, yet highly rugged, that same mentality can be said of the B-52 in a bomber context, I'd expect, certainly....
