Does the U.S. Military issue a knife with that hole in the blade as shown in the new Expert Soldier Badge?

I know the Marine Corps K-Bar did not have a hole, and as an Intell guy I only remember the Russian knife which could be a wire cutter with the scabbard as one part of the cutter.

SSgt GG-15 RET Jim Lint Yes, did when I was in, Bayonet. The hole is so the wire cutter on scabbard can be utilized.

Thank you, I do not remember that. I only remember the Soviet knife I have had that hole. 1975-1998 then a civ service without gear 2000-14. Civ in Korea have no weapons, but have BDUs... Targets but not able to shot back....I did shoot expert on Marine and Army rangers for 21 years.

Yes the M9 bayonet has a hole so you can link it to the scabbard and use it as a wire cutter. It does pretty well in a pinch.

You wouldn't believe how tightly the Ranger BN monitored these when they first arrived on-scene around 1985.

Good addition to the new military knife, in my days we used Bangalor tubes to cut through barbed wire. Not as quite but did the job.
