My husband just started army basic training. I just arrived at my first duty station. I am still receiving BAH. What should I do since my husband is not my dependent anymore. I am a specialist and my husband is still listed on my orders. I don't want to end up owing BAH. What should I do?

Christina, You need to get to the S1 / Admin in your Battalion or HHQ / HHC if in a company and let them know your situation. The orders may need to be amended. DEERS will need to be updated showing you and your spouse are dual military. If different duty locations you will both get BAH but not w/ dependents.

DEERS is not reflecting the relationship, so DEERS update will require the marriage license before the orders can change.

If I am not mistaking, both of you should get BAH.

If you are married if don’t matter who you are married to you should be receiving BAH rather it’s BAH with dependent or without dependent you should be receiving it cause you are legally married. It don’t married if he/she is in the service or not or should get with the dependent rate and the without the dependent rate. That how me and my wife did it. So you still are due BAH
