Maj Marty Hogan - Strange you say that since Congressional Pay is specifically mandated in the Constitution --it is about as WE THE PEOPLE as you can get. Its a Constitutional Amendment.

MSgt Michael Smith - The Twenty-Seventh Amendment requires that no congressional pay raise go into effect until after the next election, allowing the voters to register their approval or disapproval. It does not set their pay. Their pay is determined by legislation voted on by both houses and signed into law by the President. In 1789, as one of its first orders of business, a legislative panel proposed the pay be established at 6 dollars per day. I think that is a fair wage for the output they produce. But only should be paid for the days worked.
