I met a pilot at our Legion who flew in 3 wars. 2 shoot downs in WW2 with the Navy, 1 in Korea, 1 in Nam. Anyhow, he transferred from the Navy to the Army Air Force in 1947. Said 3 weeks later it became the US Air Force and was he issued all new uniforms.
