Pay raise equal to inflation, taking away of housing benefits, and increase in healthcare. Yeah, kinda mirroring civilian world. Pours into a conversation I was having w/ an active buddy of mine earlier today. Stop sending money to others & lets start taking care of ourselves.

Seems regardless of campaign promises, they always fall short. Service Members and Veteran's continue to get the short end of the stick

MSG Laura Washington - It is more important to bring people into the country and immediately put them on assistance programs, it seems, than to take care of those that have signed that blank check for their country. :(

One of the reasons I "demand" my children vote, both on the local and national level. That is where we can impact change from your local school board to federal policies. My opinion, many of our federal representatives are out of touch.

Martha ; you talk of our Fed reps being out of touch.. we have one that's in the area all the time time when he can get back. He just doesn't hide in his local office waiting for s'one to come in . He goes around to the local hangouts and meets and gabs a few minutes
Some that didn't vote say he's politicking, buying votes, making the guy who lost look bad(that guy went back to his business and we very little seen him around.. his aim was to get in a position so he could
Get tax breaks for businesses like his .. if that tax break helps him help the community better, that's fine, but if all it does is just help him , He's being stingy) he'll be out again
Trying.. the guy that tries to get out to people gets picked on because he's not In D.C. Working on bills !... s'times can't win...

So the pay raise is basically offset by the removal of some benefits and increased fees. Awesome. Did anyone ever mention to the politicians that no one joins the military to get rich, right? I am annoyed. I could go on, but there's really no point.

Wait till you're old enough to retire. You'll get very used to any pay increase being offset by fee increases elsewhere. Just remember the current administration promised to increase strength of military, not their pay.

I can't deny it's slightly depressing. This is why I started investing as soon as I was out of college. There is nothing like the power of compound interest and long-term investments. Plus, I am pretty sure there won't be any money left in the SSA by the time I'm ready to retire.

Norah Julmis Investing, excellent decision. I am blessed that I was able to start trustee savings accounts for my grandchildren. Only do $25 per month per child, but it can add up overtime, and when the accumulated amount is high enough, roll it over to a higher interest earning account.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen - I Can Appreciate why my Truly "Liberal" Friends Bust My Chops. The Democrats are where the Republicans were in 1980 and Republicans have gone so Far Right that they are Closing on Fascist Quickly. I New there was a Damn Good Reason I don't Align with "Republicans" Anymore.

I quit aligning with parties years ago. Now look at issues and where individuals stand regardless of party. But you are correct that Republicans are moving in Fascist direction.
