I've had people- friends, peers, superiors, and even some people on here- ask me if I've ever considered becoming a Warrant Officer, or suggest I put my packet in. And lately I've been giving it some thought on whether I should submit my packet or not. I love being an NCO and working with and taking care of troops, I also had a goal to retire as a CSM. But like everything else in life things change. So my question is is Warrant Officer the way to go? What are pros and cons, what are the benefits both short and long term, etc?

Best decision I ever made in the military....there is no down side to it...except you have to buy your own uniforms or get them off E-bay...:)

Since you make the 'big money' , uniforms shouldn't be too bad if you use the UCDPP at Clothing Sales.

Did you forget that 'generous' one-time clothing allowance we received?

I've known two CSMs that decided to go Warrant. If you think you are planning to stay around for the long haul it is definelty worth dropping your packet. Good luck in whatever you decide.

That is a very personal decision. The best advice I can give is to talk with your unit's Techs and seek their advice. They should tell you pretty much what you need about the field an - if you decide to go that route- help you out your packe together since it is a requirement to get their endorsement.
