During the class, we had to visually look at the target vehicle and estimate, to the instructor, its speed, then he would light off the Radar. We did this day in and day out until we nailed the speed to within 2 MPH consistently. And learned how to test the accuracy of the Radar with the tuning forks at high speed and low speed and log the results, time and date with dispatch. We rarely lost a Radar Speeding ticket.
