I have a buddy that is a prior Marine that transitioned to the NG(recruiter). He recently completed Recruiting School in Arkansas. He was showing the photos from the graduation ceremony and I noticed that everyone was wearing their dress uniform everyone except the LTC. he was in his cammies ..initially I was like wtf. I don't know the regulations from the Army(NG) and moreover it could be officer prerogative. I wanted to asked the crowd to see what everyone else thought.

Was the LTC part of the official party? Or was he just there in attendance? I would expect that if he was in the official party that he would have been in his dress uniform like everyone else unless there were extenuating circumstances such as he had been travelling and literally got off the plane/helo and drove straight to the ceremony.

I agree. If he was part of the official party unless under the circumstances pointed out by MAJ (Join to see) , the LTC should've been in official party uniform.

Sgt Adrian Jones - If that's the case, to answer your original question, he should have been in the same uniform as everyone else. Unless, like I mentioned before, there were extenuating circumstances. That's information we don't have.

Are you sure he was part of the official party? Is he part of the leadership at the school? If not and he was just in attendance, usually it's Uniform of the Day for people attending.

For example - at my SLC graduation all the cadre, the deputy commandant, the 1SG were in dress uniform as were all of us students. All those in attendance who were military - they came in UOD.

Agree the officiating party should all have been in the same uniform. I can think of several excuses for not wearing a dress uniform, but none of them actually hold water. If the LTC was the senior officer present, he should have respected the graduates enough to dress for the occasion. I would have.

I agree and its doesn't take that long to change if You have to, the uniform can certainly be ready to put on quickly. When the prescribed uniform is a dress uniform in My opinion that's what everyone should have been wearing including all participants and even spectators. There seems to be far more wearing of utility uniforms, cammies etc even when its not the prescribed uniform for the event. That seems to be a more recent trend that never used to fly anywhere.

If it is the prescribed uniform for the ceremony then he/she is also obligated to wear the same. If he/she is in The same unit, he/she should follow the guidelines. If he is a guest he should wear what the invitations indicated. Thank you for your service.
