Anyone been in a unit that discontinues and is then organized as another unit without changing the task and purpose and with limited changes to the TDA/TOE? Not a simple re-flagging from one named unit to another, but a total discontinued/organized event?

The 4th Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment, a TRADOC training support battalion has been officially "Discontinued" as of 01 October 2014 and the Special Troops Battalion has been "Organized" as of the same date.

I know of a unit that was deactivated and then years later reactivated under the same squadron name and Group, but the squadron was an F-15 squadron when it went away and was then reactivated as an F-22 squadron. Same basic mission just different aircraft.
