4 July 1942: The American Volunteer Group ("Flying Tigers") becomes the 23d Fighter Group and nucleus of the Fourteenth Air Force in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations.

This is a great piece of history Maj., and we just don't hear enough about it, I would be willing to bet you that couldn't find a 100 people in today's society that could tell you anything about our Air War in China.
