The "BERLIN" tab over the Big Red One was never authorized but is worn by 1st Infantry Division Veterans who served in the Divided City during the Cold War.

The 1st and 2nd MEF FWD patches were designed and authorized for Army units who worked direct support of the Marines. There are many units authorized both patches.
