It's well past time. We have coworkers hurting across our DoD and other public service and law enforcement agencies, particularly our CBP and USAF brothers and sisters. Yes, resources abound, and many are incredibly well administered and transformative. Often when we learn about deaths by suicide, we're plagued by doubt afterward. Did we notice warning signs? Did we embrace him/her as part of our community? Did we connect him/her with support? Did we take all opportunities to follow up? Intentional withdrawal or isolation are monumental barriers to overcome.

At DIU, we're assisting with a new project aimed specifically at bridging our gaps in better knowing one another and creating the tight community that has already proven to be the best deterrent of depression, self-harm, workplace violence, and suicide. We owe each other more.
