The local skeet range reopened a week ago last Friday, just in time for the ice storm. Last week was either below zero or heavy snow, and then we were busy on Sunday. It had been closed due to the high numbers of new covid cases in Greene county. Yesterday and today, Monday and Tuesday, are the days they are not open, so tomorrow we hit the range after a 2.5 month gap. At least I got my covid over and done with during the down time.

I've already cleaned out and restocked the range bag and have oiled the guns. We are ready.

The one place in my county that never closed during the panic over covid was the range. If you could get there, you could shoot. They didn't close for inclement weather. They didn't close when they were building the new parking lot. If you could get there (almost all of our roads being dirt, which makes problems when it is wet, you know) you could shoot. It seems to me that an outdoor range is the best place to be. Social distancing? All of the stations are over 6 feet apart. And while i may not bother with the covid vaccine, i will always be willing to get my shots at the rifle range.

Our city has established a range for rifles and handguns at the city lake. There is a fee for use. $5 daily, or you can buy a permit for the whole lake complex, which includes camping, for, I think, $60 a year and go out every day if you want. I buy the permit, but I never remember what I paid. There are six lanes, 3 for 25 yards, and three for longer ranges, out to 300 yards. They are talking about a 1000 yard lane as well. Facilities for skeet are in town at the fairgrounds. That's one of the reasons I moved here.

I've never had a bad time on the trap range. Skeet isn't what I normally shoot, but I like that too.

If I'm with my wife we shoot skeet. With friends, I shoot whatever they want. Occasionally, being retired, I get the bug to go out there by myself, then it is always trap. I'm not picky. Except for hunting season (or this year covid season), I'm usually out there 3-4 times a week. Keeps me from wandering the streets mugging old ladies and shoplifting and whatnot.
