A couple of things I noted, paraphrasing is mine:

1. 'It's not my job to represent the world. It's my job to represent the United States'.
2. While speaking about congress coming together to work, he gestured at the few democrats who (rudely, if you ask me) refused to ever stand for applause. Paul Ryan and Pence both were trying mighty hard to not smile.
3. UN money from other nations is increasing.
4. I found his overall tone was much more muted, and his rhetoric was subdued. Instead he just addressed the issues.
5. Notably, he did not attack the press. I hope this continues -- he's put them firmly in place, and the pendulum can swing the other direction if he pushes it. Good to see that he's not.
6. 1 trillion for infrastructure? Yes, please.

Finally, I think he's learning. He's laid off the rhetoric, tonight he informed the country, rather than tried to win more followers -- which I think is a big driver of his past behavior. All in all, I found good reason to have hope about the future, from this speech.

President Trump was more optimistic and unifying in this speech.
I am sure the MSM will trash it, that is what they do.
I find the Democratic response to be odd and make charges that are out of tune.

SN Greg Wright - You are spot on Greg. No mention of content. Of course he would had to acknowledge the current Gov. of KY said ACA was killing KY.

I've never viewed the opposition's "response" to any President's address to Congress as a response. They obviously can't fact check, clarify, and compose a real response in the time it takes the netrworks to go from the Speech to the Response. It's got to be a generic response to their best guess of what the POTUS is going to say.

All the Dems response did is cement the idea that they're the divisive, hair brained fools that a majority of America voted against.

I am not a Trump fan.....but credit where credit is due. This was the most "Presidential" he has looked to date. He stayed on message and delivered a good speech. But I do wonder.....when he says he's going to increase defense spending by record amounts, and devote massive funding to our infrastructure projects (both of which sounds good to me), how is he going to deliver, when he also says he's going to give everyone massive tax cuts? His math might be a little "fuzzy".......and it was a bit ironic when he said the frivolous fights need to stop.......this from the man who is in a declared war with the press, hitting them with tweets at three in the morning and barring some of them from press conferences. Let's see if that nonsense finally stops.

SSG Mark Franzen - Staff, you are my forefather. I respect the hardships you went through in your service, that someone of my generation probably can't understand. But you're towing the dem line, without any nod towards independent thinking. You're basing your beliefs off media. ALL media is biased. It isn't like your days, of Walter Cronkite, who had journalistic integrity. Today, b eing a journalist just means that you're the most steadfast in your lies. I encourage you to find sources other than those you are used to. Try to see all sides of things.

MSgt R C Aldi - I just wish he was the man you think he is. His track record isn't all successes....it's got bankruptcy after bankruptcy, and a lot of lawsuits because he didn't honor his obligations. Not someone I would want to do business with.

MSgt R C Aldi - point taken my friend......both parties could have given us a better choice. Trump and Clinton were both toting a lot of baggage around. The whole election was FUBAR.....

Didn't watch it, Brother. However, if no Democrat screamed out "You lie!" I'll say it was a success.

I think you would have been pleasantly surprised. This was as subdued as he's ever been. The press is trying mighty hard to not say it was a good speech. That should say something.

SN Greg Wright - I feel that the weight of the presidency may be finally weighing on him. If he did give a good speech, I'll give the devil his due.

SSG Michael Hartsfield - Actually I think you're right about that. He's come to the realization that this isn't a dog and pony show anymore (like the campaign trail is). I think it's coming home to him, the sheer monumental responsibility. That and the realization of the fact that things that work for him as a billionaire -- hundreds of people jumping just because he said a thing -- don't always work in Washington. In short, it seems he's learning. And that should be a good thing for both sides of the isle.
