You will find the Military will not put up with the kind of childish protests the NFL and the college kiddies engage in, you aren't an
individual anymore, you are part of a unit, if there were a shut-down, your best bet would be shut-up and continue doing your job. You probably wouldn't like the Brig or Guard House.

Might be able to do it on a submarine, being under water for 90 days, probably not a good idea on the base, Lord I been retired since '1997, has the military changed that much, to even ask such a question? Don't care what's printed in the UCMJ in a circumstance like that, as long as your in.........the word is PRIDE!

CPL Any Jim - If you feel that way you should get out of the army. If you are already out of the army then I understand why you did so as a PVT.

I was in service when there was to stoppages ! Fun thing is nco's that constantly threaten and manipultate sm (service members) with fear of negative paperwork and calls it leadership ! Well they act like they pay you pay check and can treat you as they feel , well when service is shut down they realize they dont pay they pay check and hold you for once accountable to you self ? Well i had said in another comment do the right thing : shave every day first thing in morning , take a moment to see family and firends that you usually dont have time because army leave is toughest thing to get approaved in all of the services , & when the stoppage is over you will be fully paid and any paid periods missed will be directed deposited into you account as soon as first pay period after goverment stoppage ! For being a cw2 you sound very uneducated ! I would of expected more intelligent conversation from you ' but that is just who i am : i see uniform and rank and give the benefit of respect too both of them ! I enjoyed my time in service , fully served my two contracts i signed , & honerably discharged wit an ets date ! If my ranks offend you than guess we can agree my leadership failed you & me ..... Im not saying im am or was outstanding , but what i noticted after army being at repeated deployments for 18 years or so , that the good leaders put in they time ' defend country & move on to new adventures and lead by example and from the front ! & the people in leadership postion now are finger pointers : you fault not mine and hot garbage bc the good leadership gives they all gets back home and moves on to civilian life ! While hot trash like yu sees the easy route of less best leadership in and now you have a better chance to steal a pension ! Cw2 did yu take the 30'000 bonus at 15 year mark and owe two years extra or yu passed ?

Not sure if you’re still a PVT, but best thing about being a PVT is you can’t get demoted

Hehe. That's great. When I was a LCpl, I went a few days without shaving, while on leave. I was in my home town and saw my recruiter while I was at a fast food joint. I looked raggity. Needless to say, I got my ass reamed out; which is exactly what should have happened. It was a good hard lesson learned. It only takes once to not make that mistake again. Semper fi.

You still can be Demoted as PVT, chapter 11 Entry level separation, failure to adapt discharge, and hold placed on advancement, or 45/45.

SPC Jacob Hostetler - you’re describing separations or punishment. Simply, as Private is the lowest rank, a Private can’t be demoted.

Well, can't be demoted is true. However I can't imagine life being joyous. Just think of things a senior nco could come up, within regulations. We all know NCO's are the backbone of all military branches. The further you move away from enlisted/NCO ranks; the more likely they are out of touch. Just my opinion, although my 04 brother (82 ABN.), my 02 father (GLIDER WW II a promotion from Flying Sgt.), may not agree. To their credit though both were prior em/nco before joining the dark side.
