What would you do if some loud-mouth moron tried to publicly "out" you for "Stolen Valor" because they didn't believe you ever served?

PO1 (Join to see) I'd walk away - I don't have anything to prove to anyone about my accomplishments, medals, or awards. My integrity is intact and I won't let some idiot provoke me into rearranging their face. I'm retired and those are part of my family now and will be handed down to my daughters and their family when I'm dead and gone, along with the DD Form 214 that authorizes all of them! End of story!

Like the old quote says "I can't fix stupid." I have nothing to prove, the Navy has proof of my service, I have proof of my service, so if that isn't good enough for anyone that's their problem not mine. BTW if I never served how do I get on the base every month to do my shopping, how did I get Tricare insurance and whose DOD issued ID card am I carrying?

I would laugh at them, after a very indignant wife or daughter lit into them. Nothing for me to prove. That's the difference between the real and the fake.

I was accused by some guys back in 1969 of not being a Vietnam Vet. I was in the First Cav in 1968. I did look like a kid looking back at old pictures. I was really upset but I had no way to prove at that time. My drivers license just had Vet on them. I have a Disabled Veteran tag on one of my cars today and a Bronze Star tag on another and it also has Vietnam Veteran on it. I do look old now to. Soon to be 72.

Poke them in the eye with my DD214 and give 'em a paper cut with my Blue ID card.

CW3 Dan Mackey - Chief, the 43rd Engineer barracks was just down the street from the Rangers at Benning , we used to run PT through Ranger land and sing un-complimentary cadences and the Ranger panties were one of the targets. Those were good days not to be the slow guy.

Once upon a time, everyone knew we were lying when we started a story with “There I was...” or “ This ain’t no shit”. Guess we can’t tell our bullshit “war” stories any more while having fun. It might offend someone. Oh well. We live in a new age. To much press waiting to call us out and discredit us and too many real life possers. I’d just tell them they’re stuck on stupid and to go away

TSgt Ed Loomis - Interesting. My active duty ID was green, I think. But my first retired ID was no-frills black border. When the picture got severely out of date (no longer skinny, plus the picture had me looking like I was wearing sunglasses - my auto-dark lenses were staying dark after a few years in use), I requested a new one - it had blue all around. Guess the Coast Guard was finally catching up with the other services.

Wish they’d let us retirees have CAC cards. We’re “Army For Life” until we have to access DFAS or Tricare on Linr

Interesting occurrence recently - my retiree dependent ID card was not considered CAC for Census Employment but my "not for federal ID" driver's license was.
