What would you do if some loud-mouth moron tried to publicly "out" you for "Stolen Valor" because they didn't believe you ever served?

PO1 (Join to see) I'd walk away - I don't have anything to prove to anyone about my accomplishments, medals, or awards. My integrity is intact and I won't let some idiot provoke me into rearranging their face. I'm retired and those are part of my family now and will be handed down to my daughters and their family when I'm dead and gone, along with the DD Form 214 that authorizes all of them! End of story!

SPC Michael Terrell - I have only the honor of serving my Country and that honor words cannot take away. You and me have about same DD214 lol I have only a 90 day service medal, marksman badge, honorable discharge as SP/4 and that I served 1 year 9 months. I was discharged early because Vietnam was winding down and they need the slots for the vets coming home. I was asked to take an early out. Then 6 years later I was sent a letter asking me to reenlist and go to OCS. But I declined because wife did not like service life.

SPC Michael Terrell - Hmmm...did your health records magically disappear after you left the service. Mine did when I went to file for disability. They "searched" for over a year and a half before saying they couldn't find the records then asked if I had a copy to supply to them for review. Convenient!

Cpl Vic Burk - I requested all my records. All I received were my service records. I thought that they were lost on purpose, then I discovered recently that our drinking water was radioactive and people who served at Ft. Greely are being diagnosed with Thyroid cancer. I was never offered medical records while on active duty, and I was ignored when I asked. That would include being hospitalized in Basic at Ft. Knox, and hours of emergency dental surgery at Ft. Greely.

Poke them in the eye with my DD214 and give 'em a paper cut with my Blue ID card.

LTC (Join to see) My sister gets that. Retired CW3, she was even told the waiting room at the med Center was limited and spouses should wait in the main lobby. I’m a patient at the same med center and don’t get any of the same bad treatment. It’s despicable that y’all have to deal with such bs.

1SG Walter Craig - lol. Great distinction. There were many times when I couldn’t decide whether I was in the Army or incarcerated though. That was at the start of my career; 1971,72,73. We had A lot of soldiers that were only in because the judge gave them an either/or and frequently they chose going into the Army. So I guess, spinning like a politician, it was kind of like incarceration. I guess I use both openings.

Interesting occurrence recently - my retiree dependent ID card was not considered CAC for Census Employment but my "not for federal ID" driver's license was.

Walk away. They aren’t worth the trouble, and I don’t have to prove anything to them. Should a situation arise where a real need to know come up I would use my military or VA ID card.
