Can my platoon sgt ban vaping and give us an curfew while in Kuwait?

So we got deployed to Kuwait about 5 weeks ago and it’s been totally hell because our platoon sgt is overprotective and loves to play the mommy role from formation every 2 hours to just having meaningless meetings about things that has nothing to do with us for an example we had someone from another unit put some substance in his vape that made him trip out bad and he was rushed to the hospital after that she council us the next day and told us we can be punished by ucmj if she sees us with any kind of vape, we asked for an copy and she refused to give us one now fast forward 2 weeks later someone had a girl in the male bay I guess and someone went and told her she came in and caught them but they were watching a movie not doing anything sexual or anything now she is saying that everyone in the platoon has an 11:30 pm curfew and if you want to go anywhere you will be escorted by an Nco including midnight chow and everything else I just want to know is she allowed to do this stuff because all of us are really considering going to IG

I am reading absolutely nothing that is illegal, immoral nor unethical. If the Platoon Sergeant gave these directives, then they more than likely came down the pipe from the Platoon Leader....and possibly the Company Commander. Now, the wonderful thing about the Army is that everyone pays the piper for someone's errors in judgement. But, I digress. To break down your listed concerns:
Vaping, like smoking, is a privilege. I know of no regulations stating that Leaders HAVE to let you smoke/dip/vape. And if some dumbass wants to taint his vape juice...then your Platoon Sergeant is actually protecting you by eliminating that possibility.
Formations every 2 hours? You are in a forward deployed location. These formations are for accountability and information dissemination. It could be worse. Trust me.
UCMJ? That one is a bit of a reach as NCOs do not give UCMJ. We recommend. But, if you were given a legal order not to vape and you do....well....
Are females allowed in the male bays? If not, then they violated orders/policies.
Curfews? Your curfew is 2330 and you're upset? Be glad it's not a 2000 curfew or a 1900 one. Again, nothing illegal, immoral nor unethical.
NCO escort at midnight? In Iraq and Kuwait back in '10-'11, there was a rash of rapes and stabbings of people walking by themselves at night with no battle buddy.
If y'all want to go to IG, go ahead. However, be prepared to be told that no policies, regulations or orders are being violated.

With respect, Kuwait’s no combat deployment and there’s no mortar rounds coming in. The last ordnance to kill anyone there was a fragging way back in the mid-2000’s as I recall. Before that it was the Akbar incident at Camp Pennsylvania in 2003. But there ARE rapes, suicides, and tons of accidents due to all the down time and lax discipline rampant in the military today, among other things.
Also, I’m an IG now for another branch and I’d tell this Soldier they have no complaint if they walked into my office.

1SG Joseph Yorski, MHS - Top if you draw what used to be combat pay(in a hostile designated zone you are on a combat deployment. Some of them are choice assignments some are kicking doors or humping jungle as you know we serve where we are sent. The guy guarding the swimming pool at MACV got the same credits as the PFC humping the bush,luck of the draw.

CPT William Jones I hear you but Kuwait hasn’t been eligible for IDP since 2014 and NOBODY was in any “imminent danger” there since 2003. Unless you count busting tape (600-9 issue), getting raped or dying due to accident, homicide or most likely, suicide.
If Joe wasn’t doing stupid things, this Soldier’s NCO wouldn’t have to do what he did for accountability.
And frankly, after re-reading the OP, this Soldier needs to suck it up and drive on. He’s in Kuwait...in an Aviation unit. He’s not in “hell” as he said and it’s kind of insulting to combat vets who HAVE been to hear this whining while we’ve still got troops under fire in Syria/Iraq/Afghanistan. But hey, not my circus, not my monkeys anymore. Retirement is great.

We don’t decide what’s a combat place and what is not. As I said some are gravy and some are places you get killed regularly but if paid it goes in the book as hostile fire location. I was lucky and had both in the same place RVN I liked the rear area best but they show up the same for pay and credits. 1SG Joseph Yorski, MHS

By all means, go to the IG. When they tell you there is nothing there, don't accept that and talk to your Congressman.

Lt Mcinnis Never mention to a service member to write their Congressman. It might cause you want to mess with. And somebody will reply by endorsement to the Congressman. How much hassle you get depends on the congressman
