About 800 soldiers from the 1st Infantry Division's 1st Combat Aviation Brigade will deploy to Afghanistan this summer, the Army announced Tuesday.
The soldiers from Fort Riley, Kansas, are deploying as part of the regular rotation of forces to support Operation Freedom's Sentinel.
"I could not be more proud of the 1st Combat Aviation Brigade, and I know they will succeed at any mission given during this deployment," Maj. Gen. Wayne Grigsby, commanding general of 1st Infantry Division, said in a statement. "The Demon Brigade has trained long and hard for this important mission, and the men and women of this great unit are prepared and ready."
