Thanks for sharing CW5 Jack Cardwell the sad news that Spc. Gabriel D. Conde was killed in Afghanistan on Monday April 30, 2018 by rifle fire, apparently.
As we know per DoD policy the name of a deceased service member can not be released until all next of kin have been notified.
I have been receiving the DoD Casualty reports for a couple decades.

He was unmarried when he died, I pray for his grieving family - especially his parents in their time of grief. I also lift up the soldiers who served with him from 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry Regiment as they mourn his death.

On Tuesday. May 1, 2018 i received the following: DOD Identifies Army Casualty

"A Loveland soldier was killed in action in Afghanistan on Monday, the Department of Defense announced Tuesday.
According to a news release, Spc. Gabriel D. Conde, 22, was involved in a firefight and was killed when he was hit by enemy small arms fire.
Conde is the first Northern Colorado resident to be killed in action since Staff Sgt. Christopher Birdwell, of Windsor, died in 2012.
Conde was a graduate of Berthoud High School and was "passionate about exploring," his former cross country coach Kristi Leonard said.
"Although we were afraid he would be killed ... (this) was his passion," she said.
Conde was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Alaska, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska, according to the release.
He deployed with the brigade to Afghanistan in September 2017 in support of "Operation Freedom Sentinel," after enlisting in the U.S. Army in August 2015. His division is set to redeploy to Alaska in the next few weeks, according to Lt. Col. Martyn Crighton.
Conde had been assigned to U.S. Army Alaska since April 2016, the release stated.
His awards during his time in the military included the National Defense Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon and Parachutist Badge, according to an Army spokesman.
Information is not yet available about funeral details or when Conde's body will be transported back to the United States."

Cpl Gabriel F. - Generally DoD Does not release status of WIA unless they are awarded a medal other than the Purple Heart.
My old friend General Joe Votel commands CENTCOM so I expect he and his staff are aware. I communicate with him about some things but not casualties or current operations.

The wounded service member, who is in stable condition, was taken to Bagram Airfield's hospital for treatment, according to an April 30 press release from U.S. Forces-Afghanistan.
In addition, several Afghan National Security Force members were killed or wounded in the operation, the release states.
