When wearing the dress blues, do I have to wear the Stacies that came with them?

When wearing the dress blues, do I HAVE TO wear the Stacies that came with them? This is for a religious function. Mine tore at the seams and I refuse to wear shiny black shoes that flop. Can I wear just plain black dress shoes, even if they don't shine? I took them to a cobbler but he wasn't skilled enough to save them. Should I...

I just updated my uniform recently and bought a new pair of shoes and it made a big difference. Plus when I wear the uniform, its not just about me anymore. I represent the US Army, and I want to get everything right and wear the uniform proudly. People will notice your attention to detail, and you will look sharp.

Back in the early 80's, you got enough clothing allowance to purchase either two new sets of BDU's or one class A Uniform. That is what the clothing allowance is for. Don't go half way. We didn't all have dress blues back in my day, so do it up right.

I don't know if you guys even do this anymore, what with the brown boots and everything, but if you can spit shine a normal pair of low quarters, that might do it, but that takes a lot of elbow grease, cotton cloth, and a big can of Kiwi. I used to wear spit shined black jump boots when I was an MP, and took the time to spit shine them.

Look there is always going to be a cheaper way... but to be compliant ... look sharp and to have something that last awhile... go back to clothing and sales and get your self the right gear... you'll thank me and the others when your 1sg and or commander isn't on you about them... plus you'll be right when it's time to go to any type of board

Personally I have been retired from USAF for 27 years. My Grandson is in Army Basic Training I am planning on going to his graduation in uniform I have been buying ribbons, devices, name tags, stripes and specialty badges. Will be buying the blouse, shirt, pants, tie, socks and low quarters soon. I want to be right.

In 670-1 you will see what is deemed compliant for material and type of uniform. This is in more detail in a 672 series reg. Commercial equivalents are listed by attributes.y
If you are just trying to get something in a hurry, go to an Army surplus store and buy a pair of regular low quarters. Shine them up nice and wear those. You will be compliant.
