Welcome to everyone to The “Colonel’s” VFV Motivational/Inspirational Quotes & Message of the Day!

Good “Saturday!” Morning “Band of Brothers & Sisters,” and all great connections. Welcome to the weekend from the “Colonel’s Foxhole” in The Woodlands, TX — 25 June 2022!

Today’s Message is: “Deserve Day!” Why Not?

“Do you deserve to be a leader? Leadership is not an entitled place that you protect and deserve. It is not a place of comfort. Leadership is continued challenges, change, and responsibility. People will seek a leadership role because they want to make a difference, improve people, and improve an organization. There are critical factors such as earning respect and inspiring others to follow because they admire the actions of the leader. Are you willing to earn and deserve the right to be a leader?” — COL (Ret) Mikel Burroughs

Good morning Kerry, glad to have my computer back up and running. It's been a challenge. Thank goodness for a very responsive IT group.
I am of two minds about "deserve" I do believe that you have to work for what you want; put in the time and effort if you are going to be successful. But I also believe there is a bigger plan than we know and sometimes what we are working for isn't in the cards for us or the timing isn't right or any one of a number of other things. That's not a reason to stop trying but it can be why you might not be seeing what you believe you have worked for, earned and now deserve. Sometimes what we deserve or what is right, is just too far out for us to see from where we are. Don't lose faith, keep working at it and the results will certainly be better than if you quit.

SPC Jon O. - I've worked hard for all of it. I am happy to share as much as I am able but I refuse to feel guilty or turn down what I worked for.

No doubt you are wise and humble enough to recognize that being a leader is an honor that needs to be lived up to. I expect that you have taken to heart the value of delegating authority to trustworthy and competent individuals while retaining overall responsibility. No doubt you have invested time and talent into training the individuals including subordinates and family members at home. I hope and pray that you and I are patient with those we train and that we give credit where credit is due and to who deserves credit and if necessary, we give honest criticism in private. ‘if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, 'You sit here in a good place,' while you say to the poor man, 'You stand over there,' or, Sit down at my feet' and you pay special attention to the one who is wearing the fine clothes, and say, “You sit here in a good place,” and you say to the poor man, “You stand over there, or sit down by my footstool,” have you not made distinctions among yourselves, and become judges with evil motives? Listen, my beloved brethren: did not God choose the poor of this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those who love Him?’ [James 2:3-5 ESV] my sister-in-Christ Lt Col Charlie Brown

I pray that YOU bless each adopted son and daughter of God who reads or listens to this prayer with grace, compassion, humility and fruit of the Spirit faithfulness and self-control as we strive to make positive differences in the lives of those we interact with. Thank YOU, LORD for guiding us each day and working through us to bless family, friends, neighbors and strangers. Let YOU light and love purify and cleanse us to be useful vessels as YOU expand YOUR kingdom on earth. 'And he said to him, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself. On these two commandments depend all the Law and the Prophets.’ [Matthew 22:37-40 ESV]

In the wake of the recent Supreme Court decisions, I pray for an increase of compassion and love for families and friends divided over political viewpoints and policy support differences. LORD, I pray that YOU prompt the mature to take first steps in reconciliation. Guide them to work towards restoration of fellowship. 'What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.' [James 2:14-17 ESV]

I lift the US Congress, the Biden Administration, and the Federal Court justices to YOU LORD. I pray that the balance of authority and power in this nation will adhere to YOUR precepts including those established in the Constitution of the USA. I pray for wisdom during judicial review of legislation, executive orders from Presidents this century, and adjudicating differences of judicial decisions at lower courts. I hope and pray that original intent will serve as the underpinning of the majority of decisions. ‘Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is to be judged by you, are you incompetent to try trivial cases? Do you not know that we are to judge angels? How much more, then, matters pertaining to this life!’ 1 Corinthians 6:2-3 ESV

I pray that you and your family members sleep well Saturday night and each will awake refreshed and healthy on Sunday morning.

We deserve the life that God gave us. Beyond that it's a matter of what we do to make that life worthwhile.
