What possible threat caused the President to pull our resources out of Afghanistan just before the 20th Anniversary of 9/11?

Regardless of our political stand, we have the ability to analyze and think. It seems there is more to the President's stern decision to make this call.

TSgt (Join to see) - the keystone pipeline was to carry canadas oil which would be exported. the pipeline threatened the indians water in spills occurred.

IMHO, the stated mission was completed after we killed bin Laden. That’s when we should’ve pulled out. Nation building is NOT the mission of the US military. Didn’t we learn this hard truth after Vietnam? What made us think we could install a democratic government? Did the Afghans want it? Their’ actions, or rather their’ inactions said no. They didn’t want to fight for it. Why should we have to fight their battles? We diverted our attention and resources away from Afghanistan to Iraq. The military didn’t lose either of those two fights. The politicians didn’t have the will to win.

C'mon Bernie. You can't say there was an agreement, and in the next sentence, that it was broken and therefore say it never existed. Trump made a bad deal as usual, and it was Biden's job to fix it. He did, and unfortunately, we had KIAs. Nothing new, and no conspiracy. If Johnny impregnates Jane but she aborts the child before divorcing him, how is that Bill's fault when he marries Jane. It's that simple - in your words.

SFC (Join to see) - the failure of the government and the afghan army after 11 days revealed what a house of cards we had built. the taliban is 50-80,000 and the afghan population is 39 million with another million or more in pakistan and 750,000 in iran. time for the people of afganistan to do their own heavy lifting if they desire. so many parralells to vietnam. does anyone remember the light at the end of the tunnel??

MSG Ronald Williams - They were doing the heavy lifting, there wasn't one US causality in over a year. Remember it took +/- 20 years for us to even get to the point of our Constitution to put it in some context. How long have we been in Germany now? How about Japan, etc.
