Honestly don't see why not but I'd rather do it right so CQ doesn't pull it down and throw it away. BAH for an unaccompanied E4 at JBLM is $1518.00 thats taken for this 10x7.8 foot brick box and I CAN'T put a birdhouse on the tree outside my window? Where do I read about policies regarding this? AR 420-1 Army Facilities Managment (Authorization for minor construction projects, Minor construction prohibitions and limitations and each UEPH Subsection) AR 210-50 Housing Managment (Resident Relations, Furnishings, and Construction) do not discuss anything about birdhouses, or anything that birdhouse might fall under. Is there another regulation that might cover something of the sorts? Would be big for morale if I can hang it (already built it).

Nobody takes your BAH, you're not authorized BAH.
Do you own the property? No. Do you have a rental agreement that allows you to build on the property? Again, no.
Do you really need a regulation to tell you not to build things on property that isn't yours?

SFC, Today I learned I was mistaken on the BAH process. If the property is owned by the DOD, and there is no regulation or policy regarding a birdhouse, than on what basis would someone tell me I'm wrong for trying to contribute a small source of joy for unaccompanied enlisted soldiers? So far every answer I've gotten was "go for it" with the exception of my 1SG who didn't want to tell me no without knowing regulation or policy on the matter. If another troop in the barracks determines that the birdhouse is a nuisance to their well being, the project comes down, a mutual agreement for the well being of soldiers.

You are an E-4 so why are you asking this question on RallyPoint? No one on this site can provide you an answer. As an E-4, you already know that your leadership also called your chain of command is who you go through for the only answer that matters and is also the correct answer.

SGT, Rallypoint was not the first place I went for answers, First used my NCO support channel, second, I read myself, third I came to Rally point not looking for THE answer, but to see if someone knew where I could find the answer.

The chain of command is where you should go. Although the regulation may not address it specifically, it does not negate the fact that it is under the responsibility of the commander and his/her command team.

I would consult with a Barracks Lawyer. ;-) jk. To be serious, I would ask your CoC. They would be the ones to make this decision.
