Walked in Busiek State Forest this morning, took a fire trail out and walked the dry stream bed back. I figure the loose gravel and bigger rocks, as well as the occasional deadfall to negotiate (slowly) are good for my balance, agility, flexibility, and mental acuity. And Conan absolutely loves it. He's full of burrs and sleeping by my feet right now. We've brushed once, it will take about 2 more sessions to get them all.

“”Agility and balance””? When will you start using a walking staff to supplement you balance?

CSM Charles Hayden- Made this stick out of a mulberry branch that blew down in a wind storm about 5 years ago. Used it occasionally, when it tickled me, then screwed up a knee in fall, 2019. Started using it in the woods then, and also after the knee replacement a year ago last spring. Busiek Forest has some pretty rough terrain so I always take it along out there anymore, had it with me this morning. Unless I'm photographing it, it lives on the floorboard of my backseat.
