Good morning COL Mikel J. Burroughs, and thanks for the extra photos. I liked the Picture Quote and your selection from Donald Hicks. I'll add this one from Ken Blanchard: "The key to successful leadership today is influence, not authority." Cheers.

Influence comes from authority, knowledge, respect, example. It all works together. It also helps to be able to 'communicate' in a 'language' certain individuals understand.

I pray that you and I are increasingly becoming more positive influences on family members, friends, co-workers and total strangers, my friend and brother-in-Christ Maj William W. 'Bill' Price.
LORD I am grateful that YOU guide us each step of the way throughout our life; YOU shape us by positive and negative experiences, and YOU work all-to-good in YOUR perfect timing.
I pray dear God that YOU enable each of us and those we love to be more positive in our influences. I pray that we each are quick to confess and repent whenever we err deliberately or accidentally. Empower us to quickly learn from our own mistakes and vicariously from others.
I am thankful that YOU are focused on what we should do. I pray that YOU make it clear to us and those we love how to be kinder, gentler, wiser, more patient and more loving.
I lift parents to YOU and pray that YOU take away burdens of guilt as they err while parenting. Strengthen the bonds of love between parents and children and between spouses. Empower parents to be appropriately honest with their children as we confess our mistakes in treatment of them.
I pray that each one of YOUR adopted children and their loved ones sleep well tonight.
By the power and authority of the Name above all names, Jesus the Christ.

There certainly are some people that that a positive influence on My life. One that stands out was TSgt Samual Dickens, My supervisor at Hanscom AFB, MA in 1969-70. I was a new NCO and learned more about supervision, management, how to handle people that I've ever learned from any human being. What I learned from Him helped all through My Career in the Air Force and beyond. To this day I still think of Him when I make decisions and the right way to handle people. He retired from the Air Force as a MSgt and settled in Denver, CO. His son also entered the US Air Force and I know He did well and with the guidance He got from His Dad no way could that have failed.

That’s the same way I have learned about leadership and management. I have had in CYC’s tierThat’s the same way I have learned about leadership and management. I have had NCOICs Who were permanently pissed off were they bathed in sarcasm. These people I did not learn much from. The person I did learn the most from a soft-spoken I would certainly let me know when I have done the wrong thing or the right thing.

My best friend lives In Gordon Ga. His name is Frank Gibbs. We were in Vietnam about the same time 1965. He was on the ground and I was a door gunner on a Huey. We saw more combat that we need to remember! I met him after we got out of the army many years ago. He has given me all kinds of great advice. I have his back and he has mind. If he ever needs me, I would be on the road for the four hour trip in a heart beat. We just clicked from the moment we met. We are both 74 years old and best friends for life. Good to have people like that in your life!
